Bolts Baseball
Middleboro Bolts in their 2nd season back in the Cranberry League started their
season back at the end of May.  The Bolts had finished their first season with a
10-18-1 record it was an ok season not bad for a rookie franchise in the half
century old league.  The Bolts started this season with a 1-5 record which
Coach Tony DeSilva called "Very disappointing we just cant hit."  Middleboro
then started to get their bats rolling and the solid pitching that they had been
receiving continued.

The Bolts went onto a 14-13 regular season record good enough for a 4th
place finish in the 10 team league.  The Bolts managed to beat every team in the
league at least once except for the Foxboro Knights that included wins versus
the top 3 teams in Easton, Braintree and Weymouth.  The 4th place finish was
good enough to qualify for a playoff berth into the Stan Musial State Tournament.

Bolts open up the playoff season with a 4-2 win versus Clarmacs of Franklin
from the Hobomock League.  The game was highlighted with a complete game
effort by Perry and a 2 run HR by Middleboro's Tyler Horan.  The bolts then went
onto to play Westcott Properties of Rhode Island and won 2-0 highlighted by a 4
hitter thrown by Tyler Noyes and a game winning double by Horan.  The Bolts
then traveled to Amesbury High School to face Newburyport (ended up winning
state tourney to advance to New England Regionals) and ran into some hot
hitting and lost by the score of 8-5.  The Bolts then took on a familiar foe in the
Rockland Cardnials of the Cranberry League who they had beaten three times
previously.  This time they would get a great pitching performance by Greg
Lyons and would go onto win 3-0 the Bolts third shutout versus the Cardinals
this season and the Bolts 7th overall on the season.  The Bolts would then take
on Cranberry Champion Easton Huskies who proved to be too much for the
young Bolts to handle and lost 7-2 and finished their season with a 17-15 record
and 4th in the State.

The Bolts players also did very well individually as Blake Youngblood was a
finalist for League MVP and Jason Perry was a finalist for Rookie of the Year.
The Bolts were well represented on the All Star team as well as  Perry,
Youngblood, Tyler Noyes, Brandon Sullo and Brendan Cordeiro were all
members of the North squad.

The Bolts are looking forward to next season as they are the youngest team in
the league and had a very strong pitching staff that most of if not all is expected
back for next season.  The Bolts roster consisted of Greg Lyons, Carlos Cornejo
of Canton, Sean Keane of Brockton, Alex McCormick, Pat McDonough and Tony
Luciani of Weymouth, Rob Rushton and Blake Youngblood of Freetown, Mike
Busa of Carver, Brendan and Nick Cordeiro of Berkley, Kyle St Thomas of
Bridgewater, Ryan Whitty of Raynham, Quirinio DoCanto and Andy Racicot of
Wareham, Brandon Sullo of Acushnet, Casey Askeland of Dartmouth, Jason
Perry of Fairhaven, Tyler Noyes of Keene, NH, and Craig Persechini, Michael
Hughes, Tyler Horan of Middleboro.  The team was coached by Tony DeSilva of
Acushnet.  For more information on Bolts Baseball go to their website
